Artist Statement
Color, light and mood are the elements that I most wish to express in painting. Currently,
I am painting mostly landscapes with urban themes, particularly common settings in and
around Wilmington. I often include figures to suggest the human "storyline." Lately I have
been experimenting with still life and increasing abstraction.
Although my finished canvases are generally oil, they usually begin with under-paintings
in combinations of acrylic, pastel, and graphite. I work in many layers in
a loose representational style, and am finding myself painting on ever larger supports
and multi panels.
